Morgan has successful IPS test with SSM.

Reigning F2000 Champion Cole Morgan was fortunate enough to get a chance to drive on of Sam Schmidt’s Indy Pro Series cars this week. The 19 yr old Florida native got his invite to Sam Schmidt’s “Champions Test” a few weeks ago. Morgan was understandably grateful for this opportunity, “It is really amazing to have this opportunity. Sam has been instrumental in a lot of young driver’s careers, and I can’t thank him enough for noticing me and giving me this chance.”

Morgan arrived Monday morning to Sebring and quickly got fitted in the car. He had logged in just over 2 full race distances by the end of the day. Jumping from an F2000 car to the 425 HP IPS car is quite a leap, so Cole focused on learning to work with a team as high caliber of Sam Schmidt Motorsports. “I really wasn’t worried about setting a new lap record. It was a new car for me, and a big leap in horsepower, so I focused on my feedback and keeping everything in one piece. I enjoyed working with my engineer Daryl Bear and my car chief Chris Griffis, they really helped this to be a great learning experience. I would be very happy to work with them in the future,” said Morgan. Morgan is still working on his plans for 2008.
